TYLER VAN GANZEM
(THE GOLDEN BABEL FISH)
ALBUM OUT NOW.
Tyler van Ganzem is the alias of zurich-based director and producer Julian Kirchner.
Julian was (and still is) extremely focussed on visual arts, graphic design and animation, before he started making music in ways of being seriously producing arranged tracks. Like many other musicians, he had been involved in several bands and sound projects, before he finally decided to work on his own. At the age of 15, he joined his first band project called RIPE (later SKARCROW), in the rural area of Berlin. Arising thereby, the melodycore formation SEVENWORDS became the opportunity to develop his skills, playing drums and living in kind of a musical commune, together with singer/songwriter Marcel Pankow and guitar players Stefan Kerber and Michael Fielauf, along to frequently changing bass players. After a split and a re-constellation as IO, a trio, aiming at the creation of epic and audiovisual sound performances with metalcore and free-jazz elements, Julian had to leave for studies to Saxony soon after, where he was going to stay for four years. During that time, he established the band JANSON, together with singer Georg Heise, big band bass player Steffen Mücke and crossover guitarist Norman Sander. They succeeded at several contests and achieved a certain awareness in the regions of Middle-Germany. In the meantime, Julian had started working in Cologne. He left JANSON and pursued his own miscellaneous goals, preferably on an electronic track. His close fellow Max Selas was a very cheerful helper and inspiration during that time. In 2007, he continued his first lo-fi midi project BRYPOLNYSHER in Cologne, which he later transformed into a garment design label. Back in Berlin, Julian began to produce in a more acid-conducted way and proceeded with his electro-acoustic project SCHUHPLATTLER. There had always been many sounds and ideas which did not fit correctly into these two divisions, but became a delightful mixture of both:
lofi-midis, as well as electro-acoustic patterns.
Julian moved to Zurich. TYLER VAN GANZEM was already born.
In early 2013, he released the tracks he had produced between 2009 and 2012:
